Supercharged Porsche 968 Cabrio -- Show Condition   Price: $36000
Midnight Blue/Beige, 35.5k mi, concourse condition. Rare and reliable DR 1 SC supercharger,* oil temp and boost gauges, RS Barn cat-back, very recent belts, rollers and seals. Much of the original Cosmoline is still visible on the undercarriage.

Custom interior including perfectly ‘grain-matched’ macassar ebony dash, console, instrument cluster and shift knob**, stitched leather details including map pocket, armrests, shift boot and console, upgraded 996 steering wheel [airbag is 10 years younger], and JVC radio/navigation system.

Additional upgrades: euro signal lights, roll bar, stainless threshold trim.

Complete records from 2011. Partial records before that.

It took a couple of years to get the improvements done and they’ve been installed for about 2 years. The ‘grain-matched’ dash, console, instrument cluster are made with macassar ebony veneer, just like current day Bentleys or the Mercedes and Jags of the past. I selected the leather details with a view toward eliminating the ‘plastic-like’ impression of the standard interior.

[original parts are archived so the car can be easily returned to 100% original condition – but why would you want to?]

* I don’t know how to describe the DR1SC without sounding like a fan-boy. I am a fan-boy. It was developed by Bob Larson in California specifically for 968 road cars with stock engines, using premium fuel [not racing fuel] and peaking at 3800-4800 rpm instead of at 5000-6000 rpm as a supercharger would for a racing application. And it’s California Air Resources Board [CARB] certified.

It came as a turnkey kit, including a tuned chip [different chips for 6-speed and for tiptronic.] Larson only made 30-some. His estimate is that only about 6 found a home on cabriolets.

**The shift knobs on the 944 and 968 are 8.4 ounces. They’re engineered to play a role as a harmonic dampener. Aftermarket knobs weigh much less. So ... they rattle like hell. I engineered my shift knob for zero resonant vibration – so it’s the only aftermarket 944 or 968 knob in existence that doesn't rattle. I accomplished this simply by molding the wood around the weighted core of the original factory knob, and retaining the original factory rubber dampeners.
