1986 VW Vanagon GL Westfalia Camper   Price: 25900
Available here is my beloved 86 Westy. I am the 3rd owner. She is all California with NO rust.
I've owned her for 4 years and purchased her from an 85+ year old man who had owned her nearly 30 years. He took meticulous care of her and has extensive records of her maintenance and all her original manuals. She's ready to GO!!

She's nearly all original.
All original upholstery and curtains in very good condition. Cabinets beautiful.
Upper and lower bed feel firm and solid. Excellent sleeping.
Pop top opens and closes seamlessly. The pop top tent has some wear and small holes around the window zipper but is still fully functional. I haven't found the need to replace it.
Sink and stove have been used only a handful of times and look brand new. I have only used the stove 2 or 3 times myself. I've never used the sink however, the previous owner said the sink was working but that he hadn't used it in years. It most likely needs a flush after sitting dry for so long.
I have recently filled the propane tank.
Refrigerator needs repair. It wasn't working when I purchased the vehicle.
Van has A/C but the previous owner disconnected it. I have the compressor but not sure if it's functional. Heat works amazingly!
Both front seats swivel function is perfect. I have both table tops.
I have front window snap on privacy panel.
She has rubber mats in front and in the cabin.

Body is in good shape for her age with original paint.
She has a couple minor bumps and scratches.

I was told by the previous owner that he bought the van when it was just a couple years old and that the engine had been rebuilt or replaced prior to him purchasing it. He installed a new odometer himself when the original stopped working (that he salvaged from another Vanagon) but it had a higher reading than the actual miles on the van. I also installed a new odometer when the speedometer stopped working. This one was also salvage with the incorrect odometer reading. So, you will see various conflicting odometer readings in her Carfax history. The owner told me that in his calculations (and you will see from his meticulous records that he kept very accurate calculations) she had approximately 150,000 miles on her at the time I purchased her and I've put less than 5,000 miles on her in the few years I've owned her. So, her total milage is around 155K give or take a few.

Her engine is strong. I've adventured in her without a single incident since the day I drove her for the first time. I wouldn't hesitate to take her cross country right now.
The day I bought her I took her in to the fabulous Jim over at Jims VW (he retired last year). He looked her over thoroughly and said I made a great buy. He did a few small repairs, flushes and such. He did notice a small oil leak but said it was nothing to worry about and if it bothered me they could go in and replace some seals but I never had him do it. So she will occasionally leak a few drops here and there.
She has passed smog every single time she's been smoged since she came off the assembly line.
This one's a good one. Let there be no doubt.

She has a 4 speed manual transmission that shifts straight and true.
I cruise her on the fwy at a smooth 70 mph. Steady and smooth.
But you can push her harder easily if you're in a hurry. ; )
