1981 Westfalia Vanagon, CA dry, project, auto   Price: 4450/Offer
Original paint, Ď81 Vanagon Westfalia project for sale. This is a nice dry survivor, rust free VW bus, a California treasure. Once refurbished, youíll be able to see all the gorgeous sights California, and the country, has to offer from the freedom of your own personal camper van. The bus is rust free and solid from top to bottom. The camper interior is there in decent shape. It hasnít been driven in many years, since 1995, so it will certainly require freshening up. Read below to see the prior repairs that were completed. I canít guarantee itís runnability, so it is sold as is. That is why I am offering it at a very competitive price. Certainly low for a solid and rust-free factory Westy. There are a few dents and dings, but nothing serious. Needs a small patch to the corner of the fiberglass pop top. The tent canvas is tattered and will need to be replaced. Tires are shot and must also be replaced. I believe I have the front grill and headlight inside. The cabinets appear to be in great condition for its age. There is a stove and refrigerator. This is a unique opportunity to get a low price fixer-upper that has good bones and records showing major work completed in the last +-10-15K miles.

Prior maintenance records show that in 1993 at 112,612 miles it was brought to the dealer for low power going uphill and was diagnosed with low compression on cylinders 1 & 3. An engine replacement was done at an independent repair shop. Then less than a year later, in 1994, at 116,466 miles it had a replacement transmission and torque converter at AAMCO Transmissions. In 1995 it was sold and got an air temp sensor, cat, and air flow meter to pass smog. I have receipts for everything I mentioned. At that point with127000 miles it the camper sat. The new owner had many cars and didnít take the car out. It is currently on a non-op permit, so there are no back fees to worry about.

I hope to see it go to a good home. Iíll entertain reasonable offers or trades. Happy for a cash sale. Looking for an original solid early Ghia so that could be part of a partial trade plus cash. Deposit of $500 required to secure bus. I will accept payments on layaway if you donít have all the funds at once. You can pick it up with the final payment. Willing to help with transportation to anywhere, but you cover the cost. Thanks for looking!
