1967 Bug   Price: 16,500
My two-owner Lotus White 1967 bug was bought new in Tampa by the previous owner and it still wears the original license plate frame from Birdsong Motors (which is now Reeves Import Motorcars). It is in amazing rust-free and collision-free condition, although the exterior was resprayed at some point prior to my purchase. The paint is good, but not perfect.

I have the original owner's manual with service stamps to '72. Then the original owner kept a running list of all repairs, dates, and mileage. I bought the car in 1998 from his widow (she never drove it since it was a manual shift.)

Except for the windshield washer, everything works, including the backup lights. Totally original interior with black basket-weave vinyl and grey rubber floor mats. The shift boot is the proper grey boot for '67, as is the optional Sapphire AM radio that works great! The grab handle, door panels, and all other interior bits are original, too. I replaced the pop-out window rubber and door seal rubber many years ago and it’s still in great shape. The windshield and rear window rubber is original and quite dry and probably not watertight – but I never drive the car in the rain and wash it very carefully.

The engine compartment is complete with the proper distributor and cap, Pierburg fuel pump, air cleaner bracket and preheat tube spring clamps. The blue Bosch coil should be painted black to be “proper.” The engine is original to the car as confirmed by the Birth Certificate. It's covered 151,927 miles and all are local Tampa Bay Area miles. No road salt; just look at the undercarriage photos! The engine was rebuilt at German Tech in Largo approximately 15 years ago and only a few thousand miles have been covered since. The engine runs strong as ever and the transmission operates perfectly. Truly a joy to drive!

No evidence of any collision damage and the floor pans are clean and dry. The only rust is at the drain hole under the front left fender (see additional photos in my photobucket link.) Otherwise, the car is rust-free. All glass is DURO-GLAS Liz Sekurit with the VW logo and matching numbers on each piece of glass. The windshield is Sigla with VW logo. Although the main photo shows the car with black wiper blade holders, I have since removed the new rubber blades and installed them in the original blade holders. You can see these in one the photobucket pics in the link below.

The wheels were painted likely at the same time as the body respray, since they are the same color as the car. They should be two-tone cumulus white and grey-black. But I found a set of NOS beauty trim rings many years ago and they cover the offending wheel color pretty well!

All are proper components behind the instrument cluster cover, including the “black box” blinker relay that works perfectly. The cluster cover is original to the car and, along with the trunk liner, is in very good condition.

There are lots of ‘67s out there in all conditions and prices. But a clean, straight, undamaged, unmolested ’67 with all the proper original parts and in excellent running and driving condition is a rare find; especially with only two owners and lots of maintenance records from day one! By no means am I representing this car as having survived under a glass dome and is in perfect condition, but it is in far better than average condition for a 53-year old car. I have loads of additional photos and I am happy to take any specific photos you may want.

Many photos are in my Photobucket file:
