Birth Certificate
1964 VW 1500N Notchback, 18,675 original miles   Price: $19,475
Pending, deposit taken Marco.....

A few updates, birth certificate is in and confirms the engine is original to the car along with L563 Safari Beige paint and Olive Cord Pattern Leatherette (72). Puzzling though, they show the cars production date as August 26th 1963 but list it as a 1963 (not 1964) model. Birth certificate is last pic. Lowered price by $500 to spur interest, I have one local party that is seriously considering the car.

Super clean low mileage car that was purchased by a US soldier stationed in Germany and brought back to the US. It was in the upper Midwest briefly then went back home to Texas where it stored indoors for years. The 1500N was a base model with a lower trim/feature than the 1500S had and it has as single sidedraft solex carb instead of the dual singles like the S. It was configured with a couple of the S options (aluminum trim on the side and the fancier S seat covers/interior).

My type 3 experts tell me the there was maybe 1 N model for every 20 S models. The VIN is 0225855 and Engine serial #027193, which per the Samba tables, line up to an August 1963 production date so it should be a 64 however its titled as a 63 and the birth certificate states its a 63. After 56 yrs, even with the low miles, the drivers seat upholstery had split due to dry Texas climate and was recently replaced with Lenny Copp (of West Coast Classic Restorations) front and rear seat covers - as close to possible match of the original factory upholstery. It has been converted to 12V for drivability, but the engine retains the 6V generator (which was rewound to 12V) to keep the 6V cooling tin and original look.

The Good
Great example of a low mileage and original, hard to find survivor, and is a rare car on top of that.
Condition of the car is fantastic, original paint and engine, Drives and shifts like a 19,000 mile car, suspension and steering are tight. Front of car still has the holes for the euro license plate.
New West Coast Classic Restoration (Lenny Copp) seat covers and carpet
New Nankang 165R15 tires all the way around, the 4 wheels were recently powdercoated black. The original continental spare tire was kept when a new spare was installed.
A few ISP West accessories were added (not original to the car), bumper over riders, rear window jail/luggage bars, bamboo parcel tray, cup holder, Coco mats, and a front fog light bar with fog lights (which arent wired up).
Converted to 12V for modern times, all bulbs were replaced, even the interior light works like a champ. Orignal 6V starter was retained so it spins over quickly on starts.
Clear WA title and WA State bill of sale, ready to go international or anywhere in the US.
Original paint is in amazing condition.
Local shop (Ovals motorsports) replaced the master cyl and shoes to be on the safe side and said the shoes removed were the ones the factory used. NOS master cylinder replaced the original which I still have and comes with the car since its actually in great/operable shape.
Birth certificate confirms engine is original to the car

The to do list
There are some minor rust spots (common type 3 areas) by the rear window, on the front right quarter panel, and by the front right headlight.
The windshield wiper motor is still 6V and isnt connected, a 12V wiper motor comes with the car.
Surface rust on underside of car, factory undercoating took most of the hit though
Small exhaust leak or hole in the muffler I haven't worked on yet

Priced to sell at $19,975. Generally not interested in trades as Im limited on space and already have too many cars. International buyers welcome, I have worked with buyers from Australia, France, Belgium, and others. Im willing to hold/store the car for a brief period of time (weeks or?) while transport is arranged.
