1969 VW Bug With Roof Rack Price: $8500
I recently had the car appraised and this is the description provided:
The odometer on this turquoise exterior with light green cloth interior beetle shows 33,408
miles. Amenities include, but are not necessarily limited to the following: 51bhp/97cid
(1584cc) flat-four engine; 4-speed transmission; MPH and fuel gauges; roof rack; and a
Pioneer AM/FM/CD radio. The Firestone (P185/65R15 front & P215/70R15 rear) steel
belted radial tires are in very good condition, and mounted on chrome steel wheels with VW
MECHANICAL: We test-drove this car and found that the new engine started easily, idles
smoothly, and has plenty of power. The 4-speed transmission is in very good working order,
and shifts smoothly into gears. The steering is tight and the car tracks straight down the
road. The new disc brakes are excellent, and pulled the car to a straight stop. We checked
operation of all electrical equipment and found that everything works. The overall
mechanical condition of this car is very good.
EXTERIOR: The body is in good to very good condition with no rust, but there are a few
small dents around the car. There is one on the passenger side front fender, and a small one
on the front right corner of the top. The body panels appear to be all original, and the fit and
gaps are very good. The car had been repainted some time ago. There is “orange peel” in
the surface, as well as some large chips on the fenders and door edges, as well as scratches
on the engine cover and rear fender. The paint on the rear quarter panel and lower door has
cracks, and the hinges have chips. The chrome wheels look very nice. All the exterior
stainless/chrome trim pieces and bumpers are in good condition, but the door handles have
small pits and the bumper is missing the black trim. The windshield has a few small chips,
while all the side glass is original and in very good condition.
INTERIOR: The light green cloth upholstery is not correct for the car, but in very good
condition. Originally, the upholstery would have been all vinyl. It is showing some wear, as
well as the pockets on the door panels are sagging a bit. The original carpets and rubber
mats are worn on the edges, cracked, faded and dirty. The dashboard and gauges are in
very good condition, as is the wiring, but the rubber seals and gaskets are old and dry. The
newer headliner is in good condition, but has some wrinkles, and the area under the rear
window is all stained. The rear package shelf is filled with speakers, and is not finished.
The interior stainless/chrome trim pieces all appear to be original, with normal wear, while
the black plastic has faded a little.
ENGINE COMPARTMENT & CHASSIS: The engine and engine compartment are clean.
The floor pans are original, with very little rust around the edges of the undercarriage. It is
very clean under the engine. The paperboard lining in the front trunk is missing, and the
carpet mat is dirty and worn. The spare tire is an old Michelin, mounted on a painted wheel.
