2000 Volkswagen Eurovan Camper Price: $33000
Up for sale is our 2000 Volkswagen Eurovan Camper with less than 57,500 miles. The camper has been maintained meticulously.
The Eurovan Camper drives and works properly. All of the camping equipment works and the vehicle needs nothing. We have used the camper only for a few long trips and have been really careful to keep it in tip-top condition. This is a non-smoking vehicle. I am the third owner and have had the camper since 2016. We are selling because life with a six and seven year old has gotten too busy and we don't have time to camp anymore....boo!
If you are reading this, then you probably know all about the versatile VW Eurovan Camper, but if not, here is a thumbnail of its capabilities and the condition.
The Eurovan Camper
The camper is powered by VW’s V6 2.8 liter, SOHC, front wheel drive, automatic transmission, four antilock disc brakes, independent suspension, dual air bags, air conditioning, etc. The beauty of the Eurovan Camper is that it will fit in a garage and is sized like a regular car. We don’t use ours as a daily driver, only for road trips. The architecture for this vehicle was sold worldwide, so there is a wealth of knowledge and parts for these vehicles. The Eurovan Camper is the only vehicle of this size that has two beds, a sink, a gas/ electric refrigerator, storage cabinets, and an exterior spray hose. The vin number is WV2EH4704YH040804. This van has a Clear Vehicle History report from Carfax.
The interior is in excellent condition. I have covered the seats with custom made Wet Okley covers ($650) because they are so easy to clean and protect the upholstery. Underneath the covers there are no rips or tears. In one of the photos you’ll see that I pulled back the cover on the passenger seat to show the condition of the fabric.
Not pictured is an aftermarket rubber mat ($130) that is perfectly fitted to cover the rear cargo floor. It was sold by GoWesty, a useful source for parts and accessories.
The radio is a Blaupunkt CD/Radio unit that accepts a USB cable for charging or playing music. The face plate is removable and has a small plastic case for storage.
This vehicle originally came from California and now lives in Austin, Texas. There is no rust. The panels are straight and free of dings. The pictures show the condition and were taken this week. The paint has a shine but could be polished more. There is some streaking from grime on the paint surface that could be better cleaned. There are some minor blemishes here and there, but overall the exterior is clean. Again the photos will show the condition well.
The van comes with a trailer hitch ($200) that has only been used to carry the Cargo Carrier ($150) in the back. Both are included and a great way to carry extra luggage/supplies on trips. The hitch has never been used to tow anything heavy.
No cracks or welds to the top part of the vehicle.
The camping equipment is ingenious and includes reclining/swiveling front seats with arm rests that can be turned to face the dining table that can be installed in minutes. The roof pops up and has screened windows that can be unzipped. The upper bunk is a great perch and feels like a treehouse. There are two beds, one up top and one below. The bench seat folds out to make the lower bed. All the fabric and upholstery on the beds is in excellent condition. The refrigerator can be run on LP gas (for camping) or can run on battery power (for driving). The camper also has an exterior electrical connection for “shore” power hook-up. The cooking stove has two gas burners and there is a stainless steel sink with an electrically powered faucet. The holding tank keeps a supply of clean water that also feeds the shower nozzle and hose under the rear hatch.
The sink and stove unit is in excellent condition and has been used very little. It is clean and is not dinged or grimy. The cabinets are all in excellent condition, all latches work and aren’t broken.
There are shades, a rear fabric curtain and the original front window curtain that attaches to velcro tabs in the front cabin. The pop top canvas has some fading and minor stains and there is a 1/8” tear in the front screen that I’ve mended, but otherwise it is fine.
See photos for a better look. The gas struts that support the pop-top have been replaced with stronger units.
The LP gas tank is in excellent condition and works perfectly. Notice the near un-obtanible black plastic cover for the LP tank on the drivers side. That part is usually missing.
Included are the original manual with information for the camper and a video showing the campers features. I have a folder of receipts and records.
Maintenance and Service
The camper has been serviced regularly and I have all receipts since I’ve owned it. The Carfax report shows earlier maintenance records. Major service items including replacing the charcoal fuel evaporation system, the alternator (May 2018), a new compressor for the air conditioning, brakes redone and all regular maintenance including regular transmission filter and fluid changes, regular oil changes, etc. The camper drives, shifts and handles flawlessly. All four tires are in good condition and have plenty of tread (see photo).
Only current issue would be the passenger side inside door handle not operating correctly. You can get in from the outside, but the latch won't open the door from the inside. It was like this when I bought it, but I am working to try to get it fixed now.
The car is also listed for sale locally and I reserve the right to end the listing at any time. Inspections welcome. You are welcome to come by and have a look, or if you live away from Austin, you can have someone else inspect it. Austin has a really good independent VW shop and I’d be happy to take it to them for an inspection. The vehicle and title are both registered in my name.
