Did it have swivel seats originally?

Powered by air? No silly, just air-cooled!
1962 VW Subhatch Westfalia SO-34 w/safari runs opt   Price: 12950
August of 1961 build date Split Window SO-34 Subhatch walk-thru Camper:

Note: we are currently working on bringing the bus back to its original mouse grey color and making it driveable. This means the price will go up based on what we have invested. If you would like the bus running and stopping with either a stock style 1600cc or stock number correct case for this year engine and stock brakes functioning add $3000+ and we will deliver it running and stopping. Electrical, suspension, seals, tires, paint and body, and upholstery restoration services would all be available for an additional charge.

At first this bus appeared to me to be a very rare swivel seat model. The walkthrough seat stands have no back rests and there is no evidence on the b-pillars of being removed. After much debate I was later corrected that, being an SO-34, it would have had a flip seat. More on that later... The metal subhatch appears to be in good shape. The curved wood alongside the subhatch to which the wood headliner panel attaches is present. This bus was originally destined for Cyprus! The bus came factory equipped with safari windows. The brackets are still here, but the windows were removed long ago. You can easily fit repro replacements or source some originals. I have the factory birth certificate to confirm. The tent awning mounting rails are also here on the roof. That is a really cool feature! This is a nice project with good bones which has been stored indoors for years. Itís certainly a bus Iíd really like to restore. Not many Subhatch buses come available. However, I donít see myself getting to it in the next five years (due to other personal projects already in the works), so itís now available. Iíve included enough pictures for you to get a good idea of the overall condition. I believe the original color was L87 pearl white atop L325 mouse grey. There is some rust in a few of the usual places, such as front floors, where the cargo floor meets the long wall. The frame seems quite solid. There is rust scaling on the cargo floor. The drip rails are solid and window frames look good too. It has a transmission, but no engine. The bus is mostly complete. You will get the rear bumper that is in the cargo area, just realize it will need straightening. You will need seats and cabinets. The front seats are not stock. I donít know what car they came out of- just that it wasnít a VW. To go back to stock you will need to reinstall the correct seat flip seat and mounts. Maybe the seat left with the safari window frames? The roof had 3 fog lights and a CB (not CB Performance) antenna installed, which goes great with the camo paint and the cut-out wheel wells and flares! Obviously, this is a project that will take some time and money. I think it is definitely worth the the investment. Typing this ad makes me remember how cool it is and I almost want to stop right here and cancel the ad. So, if you want it you better catch me before I change my mind. Offered at 14500, or whatever price is posted above if I have lowered it. I welcome negotiations that include a partial trade (example: oval bug, lowlight Ghia) plus most of the exchange in cash from the buyer. Not considering straight across trades. The other vehicles in the pictures are not for sale. If you need help with shipping, just ask. If you want the SO-34 send a $1500 deposit (cash, Venmo, Zelle, PayPal) and Iíll pull the ad. Title will be yours on full payment. Thanks for reading to the end.
