1970 Volkswagen Westfalia Campmobile   Price: 6500
This is a running and driving project bus, mechanically sound, needing body work and interior work, clean title in my name. This would be great for someone who doesn't want the hassle and unknowns of mechanical gremlins of a 50 year old VW but has the room and ability to finish this van. The engine is a strong and fresh 1600 single port (look inside the valve cover, it's so clean!!) running a solex h30/31 carb, jetted correctly with a 127 main etc and a German 009 with Petronix pointless ignition. Hankook commercial rated tires in the correct 185r14 size, turned German drums and replaced all brake components spare the master cylinder. replaced shift linkage bushings, balljoints, tie rods etc. All locks work, 1 L code key operates every lock and ignition but the front 2 doors, and 1 R code key does the front doors. The van has already had the rear quarter replaced from a rust free donor, and replacement slider door that still needs to be adjusted, but it opens. The driver's rear quarter has rust and has been cut out for off road tires, and also needs to be replaced. The lower rocker underneath the slider also has rot. The floors are virtually rust free. The interior photos are a little dirty, I have some spares in there currently, some won't be included, but there is a 2/3 campmobile folding seat and a full width headbanger upper cubby that comes with the van. The throttle cable recently broke, I don't know how, but I have it rigged with zip ties and it's held fine enough to get me to a gas station. The throttle cable is a $10 part. The van will not be sold with the H4's, the factory sealed beams will be installed.

In some beautiful backwards irony, I've enjoyed the spirit of freedom that comes with owning a type 2, but It's time to let it go and experience a new kind of freedom.
