Restored 211905205Q distributor with NOS vac can Price: 285.00

This is a restored/rebuilt German Bosch 211905205Q DVDA 1971 dual port bay bus distributor. It's for type 1 engines running 34-3 carbs. This distributor was completely disassembled with all the parts being cleaned spotless in an industrial parts cleaner. Each part was then closely inspected to ensure it was still in spec. The distributor was found to be in excellent condition.
Both main shaft fiber washers were replaced. The main shaft was shimmed to spec. The distributor was then reassembled using Bosch distributor grease and oil which was applied in the appropriate areas.
New points, condenser, rotor and shaft o-ring were installed. I also installed a new German Bosch dust cap that should always be in place.
I installed a rare and hard to find lightly used original German Bosch dark brown bakelite distributor cap. These caps were on the 205Q when the distributors were new.
The distributor cap clips and external screws, hardware, drive dog and it's spring were stripped of their remaining original zinc plating and any corrosion. They were then re bright zinc plated. The new plating protects these steel parts from corrosion for years to come. The distributor body was then cleaned of oxidation and returned to the original bright aluminum finish.
I installed a correct NOS German Bosch 853 DVDA vacuum canister. The advance and retard was checked in degrees and vacuum on my Sun distributor machine and is right in spec. The original Bosch/VW hold down clamp was was stripped of the old zinc, straightened and then re bright zinc plated too.
The distributor was run on my Sun Distributor machine after restoration and was also right in spec. This distributor is now ready for decades of further service.
These 211905205Q distributors were a one year only distributor (1971) and are getting hard to find due to their popularity with bay bus owners running original Type 1 dual port engines with German Solex 34-3 carbs. This distributors advance and ramp and vacuum canisters where designed for the heavier Bay bus and it's 002 transmission.
These are excellent distributors after restoration and are vastly superior to the 009's that have horrible flat spots, off idle hesitations and poor drivability when matched with German Solex 34-3 carbs. This distributor is not a match for Solex 30 series carbs.
