1982 Westy - Everything Works! New 1.9L AAZ motor   Price: 18000
Who doesn’t love a giraffe? Especially one that just got (less than 1,000 miles ago) a 1.9L AAZ diesel engine from Quality German Auto Parts (http://www.qualitygermanautoparts.com) installed by Tom at Halsey Auto Repair (https://halseyautorepair.net). If you know anything about the AAZ motors, you know that this giraffe is much faster than the dog of an engine that it came with, the 1.6L, and will last much longer. This 1982 VW Westy is ready for whatever adventure you can dream up. Fridge works, both on electrical and gas. The sink and facet works. The stove works. It has an inverter and a converter with an auxiliary battery that can be charged externally or while driving, which will not a problem for the brand new alternator I just installed. I repaired all the button snaps inside the van, as well as on all the fabrics and accessories so that the back screen works and all the blinds work. She has 123,878 total miles on the body.

She even has a Fiamma awning for blocking sun or rain. The racks and ladder on the top and back of the vehicle were custom built by Gary, an amazing old-timer and great craftsman out of Calgary, Canada (http://www.vwrack.com). Unlike most roof rack I see on Westies on the road, these racks do not just bolt into the flimsy fiberglass wall of the pop-top for all of their support, but also have feet that go into the rain gutter, providing vastly more support for lots of weight on the roof rack.

She is not a calf nor in perfect/mint condition. This is a used vehicle with some quirks. If not, she would be selling for 60k on Go Westy. There is a little rust on the under carriage. The sliding door handle, although brand new, seems to slip a little. The lever that opens the valve to let the heat in got disconnected – so you have to reach around the kick panel and to open the valve (easy fix). And the passenger seat upfront could be re-upholstered, or just keep the seat cover on.

Once upon a time and before the new engine, she ran on vegetable oil. There still is a custom built, steel fuel tank underneath the passenger side that would make for an amazing auxiliary fuel tank. Just need to connect it up to the main diesel tank or route it over to the fuel filter with a solenoid valve.

Will accept cash or bitcoin for payment as well as money order, bank check (must clear before signing over title), cashiers check, venmo, paypal etc.

With the custom racks, the Fiamma awning, fully function camping set and a fresh 1.9L diesel engine - this van is a steal at this price.
