The Classic all-in-one camper van with pop top, stove, sink, frig and sleeping for up to four.
This is a rare gem that I must part with after 12 years of taking her out on the roads of Minnesota and Wisconsin. I believe I’m the third owner. First owner was in California. I purchased it from Itasca, MN in 2012. While in Minnesota it’s stored in the garage from November to April every year. Rust coating (original?) around bottom 12" and wheel wells. Body is in excellent condition. 4 cylinder engine. Manual 4 speed transmission. Odometer reads 199+ K. Add a few miles for odometer cable failure and replacement in ?2017?
Brand new GPS odometer 2023.
Features include :
Pop-top in good condition. One small hole in remote folds...doesn't leak. Accommodates tall campers and provides great ventilation.
Add-on Canopy for staying dry and in the shade.
Electrical and water hookups.
Recently replaced propane tank and valves. (no more leaks)
Auxiliary battery for supply to Refrigerator and/or small appliances, phone charger.
Auxiliary propane heater for those chilly early Spring and Late Fall nights. Works GREAT!
Fold-down rear bench for quick access to double-size mattress.
Bug screen for large, sliding side door. Screened windows with original VW curtains in great condition.
Previous owner purchased a lifetime contract with Sirius and a premium after market sound system.
Great Maintenance history with Good Carma and VanGo Auto, St. Paul, MN. Including replacement of batteries, brakes, muffler and and other miscellaneous mechanicals.
Jordan at VanGo Auto will prepare an inspection report at a cost of $120/hour; Full inspection at a cost of $480 includes 30 minute consultation to answer any questions.
If you pay full price for the Westy, I will deduct (up to $500) what you pay for pre-purchase inspection report.
Long time oil leak scheduled for repair 7/18/23 Note: Repair completed 7/19/23. Additional engine repair recommended, not required.
The downsides:
AC hasn’t operated for years and probably needs to be replaced.
SLOW leak in cooling system requires regular monitoring and topping off.
Exhaust system is old; will need replacement.
Compression tests low (common in these older vans). I've driven it in this condition since I bought it 12 years ago.
A few very minor rust spots at window seams could use touch-up.
