Blown motor Not driven in 15 years
This is the very first (of 6) 2.1 Vanagon I have owned. I bought it nearly new in 1990 with only about 25k miles. I blew up the motor in 2008 and it has been stored indoors ever since. Dark brown with 4 speed.
It has a rod out the case so will need a short block at minimum. Good candidate for a Subaru or diesel conversion. Since it has been sitting so long it will of course need the fuel tank cleaned and all rubber lines and brake cylinders and brake hoses. And of course heater core and blower should be done on any car this old.
It was a pretty good condition daily driver and has all original glass, 2 original keys. Original paint but it has a lot of rust pits in the lower part.
It has a couple places of ugly seam rust but they are not very big. And one minor crease behind driver's door which I have started to hammer and dolly back out. (you can see where I have been working the back side in one of the views.)
Driver's seat has worn thru a bit on the bolster, other seats are pretty good but dirty. I also have the middle seat and seat belts for it if you want a 7 passenger.
Pretty sure I replaced the power steering lines on this one. Also rear shocks and upper control arm bushings.
I can supply this car as is or take it to any stage you like in its restoration. (not interested in doing full paint jobs, but could definitely weld in repairs and spot in some brown paint on lower panels.)
I have a couple functional WBX engines or could supply a Subaru EJ22 or AAZ. I can also probably deliver it by tow bar limited to 500 miles maximum for additional cost.
This was a pretty good driving Vanagon and would be again to the right person with an engine and determination.
