1973 Sport Karmann Ghia, Super Clean Survivor! Price: $27,500
|
1973 Sport Karmann Ghia, Saturn Yellow, Nice Survivor Car!
Back in 1973 Volkswagen made a short run of Sport Bugs and a smaller run of Sport Karmann Ghias. Volkswagen Of America wanted to boost the sales of their Sport Bug by offering the Sport Karmann Ghia alongside them in their showrooms. Apparently Volkswagen of Germany wasn't happy that Volkswagen Of America overstepped them and put an end to their short production rather quickly. It is believed that only approximately 30 Karmann Ghia Sedans and possibly as few as 10 Karmann Ghia Convertibles were produced. All of them were sold originally within the USA and not many are known to be left today.
This Saturn Yellow time capsule is one of the few nice surviving Sedans still known to exist!
According to the Birth Certificate from Volkswagen, this Ghia was originally delivered to Florida and lived there for a period. It later moved to Quebec, Canada, where it was part of a small car museum. It was purchased from that museum collection in 2013 and in 2018 it made a tour of Northeastern states including Maine, New Hampshire, and Vermont, where it performed flawlessly.
The body is in very clean shape and is in the original color of Saturn Yellow. You'll note the black Sport Stripes which is one of the most notable features on the Sport edition cars. Other details include the Sport Steering Wheel and Sport Shifter. It also has the Sport Wheels which are 4.5 inch up front and 5.5 inch out back similar to the 914.
The interior is nice, super original, and purists would enjoy it just as it is.
Mechanically this 1973 features the original engine, rebuilt to 1641cc not many miles ago, stock IRS transaxle, 12 volt electrical system, and it runs and drives well.
Here is your chance to own an eye catching and very limited edition Karmann Ghia that has survived impressively well over the last 50 years! Thanks!
$27,500 US Dollars
I can text short video clips of the car to seriously interested parties as well.
