1969 Lowered Ghia Convertible   Price: $22,500
This is one of the most desirable years as it was the last year with small rear taillights and bullet front turn signals. The drivetrain is a 10/10 and the interior is a 9/10, but the paint is only about a 6/10. It has a nice stance, great interior color, great exterior color, and drives very very well.

The car underwent a total restoration in 2013. The body was removed from the pan, and both were sand/soda blasted to bare metal. New pans were installed, and the entire pan/frame was then epoxy coated. The driverís rear quarter was damaged, so the driverís quarter was replaced. In addition, the driverís rocker was replaced, and the front 1/3 of the clip was replaced several years ago by a previous owner. The fuel filler door and radio antenna were frenched out during the restoration, and the fuel tank is now a new older style tank with the filler cap under the hood. There was very little rust or body filler in the car and old-school lead was used to fill the welded seams on the rear quarter and front clip. Unfortunately, the tinning paste and chemicals for the lead filler was not cleaned thoroughly enough before sealing and painting, and this has led to significant bubbling along the leaded seams. However, in my opinion, this could be repaired with a fairly simple sand, seal, and color match respray. The body was painted on a rotisserie, so every inch of the body, both inside and out, were painted in 2013, so none of these areas would need to be resprayed to correct the bubbling.

During the restoration, all rubber body seals, door seals, window seals, etc. were replaced, and they are still like new as the car is rarely driven and always stored inside. All glass is good.

The convertible top frame is complete and in excellent usable condition. The frame operates nice and smoothly, but the canvas and headliner are only in fair condition. The canvas wasnít replaced in 2013 because the plan was to always store the car inside, and the top would always stay down. However, the car does have a very nice top boot made of high quality black canvas.

All seats were recovered in a very good quality gray tweed, and the TMI gray carpet kit is in great condition. New and never used coconut fiber floor mats are included. All floors and doors were covered with Dynamat which works excellent to reduce road noise and rattles, especially in the doors. The original fake wood vinyl was removed, and the dash face was painted to matched the body. A complete new wiring harness was installed in 2013, and a new VDO tach, VDO oil temp gauge, and VDO speedometer with GPS sender was installed in 2018. The original radio is installed and looks great, but it isnít hooked up. Glove box was replaced, and a center floor console was added.

The engine is a 2180 with dual Weber 44 IDF carbs (made in Spain), and electronic ignition. Engine was built from a new aluminum case with all new components, and a spin-on oil filter. The 4-speed transmission is built with a super diff, and the engine/ transmission combo only has about 3,500 miles. The EMPI trigger shift works very smooth. The muffler is a Vintage Speed stainless steel muffler that is specifically designed for lowered Ghias. The muffler has a great sound, and less than 200 miles on it.

A hydraulic clutch was installed, and it works incredibly smooth. The pedal floor assembly slides back-and-forth in order to access the hydraulic clutch and brake fluid reservoirs. Iíve checked both reservoirs a couple times, but Iíve never had to add fluid or make any adjustments.

The rear has been lowered a few torsion bar clicks. The front beam is a narrowed 6Ē with 2.5Ē dropped spindles. The current height looks good and is still has adequate driving clearance for a lowered Ghia, but the front beam is easily adjustable if you want to raise it. A new steering box was installed in 2013, and it steers and tracks extremely well. The brakes are 4-wheel disc all around, and they stop on a dime. Unlike some cheap disc conversions, this conversion retains the emergency brake which holds very well.

Tires are like new with195/50/15 in the rear and 165/50/15 up front on polished Porsche Fuch replicas. The front tires have plenty of clearance in the wheel wells. The battery is newer, and has been relocated under the back seat. The car comes with several spare parts, seals, lenses, switches, etc.

There are a few items that need attention such as the horn, the turn signals donít always work, but a new turn signal switch is included. The brake lights usually work, but they donít currently. The GPS speedometer is new and simply needs to be set and calibrated, but all the paperwork and instructions are included. The gas gauge sender was replaced, but the gauge itself doesnít work.

The car is located in Springfield, MO with a clear Missouri title and permanent Missouri plates if you're a resident. I prefer a buyer that can personally inspect the vehicle, but I'm also willing to work with a shipper arranged by and paid for by the buyer. The price of $22,500 is firm for the first few weeks after listing. I prefer text or PM through TheSamba.com. Thanks.
