1957 Baja Bug in family since 1973 Price: 15000
|
This car has been in our family since 1973, when my brother and I made it into a Baja bug (with a lot of parts and advice from our dad’s best friend Bob Mohler of Mohler’s Foreign Auto).
The current engine is a Mark-Herbert-built 2180 (he did this in 2004). It’s got low miles because we non-opped the car with the DMV from 2009 until this summer.
Super peppy and fun to drive.
These past few months the following work has been done:
Installed “new/vintage” (still in the box) dual Weber carburetors (from Bob Mohler’s estate)
Replaced all four wheel cylinders plus master cylinder brakes with off-road brake shoes from McKenzie’s Performance Products
Installed Kennedy Stage 1 pressure plate
Installed new radial front tires (Nexen brand)
Replaced the fuel pump, distributor rotor, cap, ignition wires, spark plugs, wiper motor, wiper arms/blades, rear view mirror
Other features:
BFGoodrich Dueler A/T tires on rear
External oil cooler/fan
Custom 4-in-1 exhaust, 1 5/8th tubing, including 1 5/8th heater boxes
15-inch Centerline alloy wheels with 12 mm studded drums
Custom tubular steel bumpers, roof rack, and roll cage (roll cage connects to front end and rear shock mounts)
Custom front skid plate
Aluminum door panels
Scat shifter
Wood-rimmed Cal Custom steering wheel
Oil temperature gauge mounted beneath the dashboard
Fixed-back Beard racing seats (black vinyl and cloth)
Deist four-point front harnesses/seat belts
