Early 1965 Porsche 911 restoration project!   Price: offers invited
We are pleased to offer on behalf of one of our clients this very early and rare 1965 Porsche 911 Coupe.
For many years, 2shores has been offering selected, finest grade examples of
air-cooled Porsches. This very early Porsche 911 Coupe is one of those examples!

Production of the Porsche 911 began in September 1964, with the first 911s exported to the US in February 1965.
The first models of the 911 had a rear-mounted 130 hp, Type 901/01 flat-6 engine, in the “boxer” configuration like the 356, the engine is air-cooled and displaces 1,991 cc (2.0 L) as compared to the 356’s four-cylinder, 1,582 cc (1.6 L) unit. The car had four seats although the rear seats were small and it is usually called a 2+2 rather than a four-seater. A four or five-speed “Type 901” manual transmission was available. The styling was largely penned by Ferdinand “Butzi” Porsche, son of Ferdinand “Ferry” Porsche. Butzi Porsche initially came up with a notchback design with proper space for seating two rear passengers but Ferry Porsche insisted that the 356’s successor was to use its fastback styling. 7 prototypes were built based on Butzi Porsche’s original design and were internally called the Porsche 754 T7. Erwin Komenda, the leader of the Porsche car body construction department who initially objected, was also involved later in the design.

The car on offer is very early production vehicle (VIN# 300267) and was finished in light ivory (6404) over black houndstooth interior.
Obviously, this car is in need of a complete restoration.

The car was delivered new on January 22nd 1965 to German dealer Mahag in Munich.
It found it’s to the US in 1967 and has had two owners in the US as far as our research goes. According to the last US owner it was stored for 30 years before coming back to Germany in 2013.

This is a very rare opportunity to acquire such an early Porsche 911 (VIN# 300267)) with all the unique features only the early 65 cars have.

This is a 100% complete car, fully numbers matching with original Kardex card and Porsche Certificate of Authenticity.

Located in California.
