Is this an old EGR?
SixVolt
I noticed this saucer shaped item on the left side of an old 75 engine with FI. Is it an EGR system? What is the electrical plug that runs to it from the FI harness?

AFM filter covers.
SixVolt
I noticed two differnt sized AFM filter cover boxes. Could one be from a 6 pin AFM system and the other a 7 pin? I noticed one has a sensor or something inside the air channel.

These are three AFM's I picked up from my buddy who has an old VW shop. He was going to throw them out so I grabbed them. They are all 7 pin AFM's but I noticed the numbers seem different. Don't know why.

Back of jump seat w comments by Mike B
honeybus
Here are some comments by the person who did the installation - Mike B

"Hi Barry- getting Nyssa's bus ready for the drive to Savannah- for the jump seats, I will bolt a long piece of 3/16" steel along the floor behind the front seats with holes drilled in it for the bosses on the bottom of the seat to slip into. The brackets with the quick release stud I am having trouble with- I will have to shim them outwards 1.25" to clear the front seatback; and the pairs of mounting holes on each side will end up with me having to drill into the wheel well on the door side; I don't want to do that as I'd like to make the brackets easily removable (ie, inside the bus, not outside where one must tar it it to be waterproof. Since the "floor" behind the front seats is lower in the center than the sides, is there any reason I can't drill through the square sided bracket and bolt it to the seatback wall where it will be inside the bus?? Another question is stability- even with the floor secure, doesn't the seat rock on the quick release stud? The upper part of the seat has two studs sticking out as though they were pressed against or within something- can you comment on this? See pic-"

Barry says "Mike, I don't know where the two bolts/studs fit. I believe they are 'extraneous'."

Final installation - jump seats in '75 Bay Station Wahon
honeybus
These are the comments of the person who did the installation, Mike B -

"Hi Barry- now Nyssa can carry 2 more friends safely!

Came out well- I cut a plate of metal to fit across bus and drilled
holes for the studs in seat bottoms and for bolts (flush stove bolts) that held it to the floor. Reasonably flush this way when seats are removed. The carpet had to have parts cut out so the seat would sink low to fit in the stud holes."

and

"Don't know if you noticed it in the 4-pic- heree is a blowup- in order to get the seat vertical and not hit the frontseat backwall, I had to space the jumpseat out an inch- used 1" thick decking- the seatbelt is mounted to the same 2 bolts that hold the spacer to the front wall. The receiver stalk end of the seatbelt is hooked to the same bolt holding the front seat stalk. Where the locking button is I added a 3/8" thick bolt through the front wall. Too bad the 2 seat floor studs DO NOT line up with 2 of the floor strengthening ridges or I could have just drilled mount holes there and waterproofed a "cup" around the boss hole from below. To let the stud poke through the 3/16" plate I had to use the round end of a body hammer to hammer down a ridge!"

This gives an idea how far from the sliding door the 2 (of 4) bolts would go. The retracting seat belt assembly attaches at these two holes, so there is a few inches that are taken by the seat belt retractor.

Pic2 top of BAR is 11 inches from floor
honeybus
This is a very critical measurement. Use this info to get an idea if your VW will be able to take these Vanagon rear facing jump seats. If you don't have a place to put the BAR, forget about it!! You need a solid place, about 10 - 12 inches above the floor to attach the BAR...
