Critter1
Finally got the new motor put in and running good.
Long story short..... Decided not to go full resto yet. Wanted to actually drive it for a while. So after a couple years in the garage, a fresh 1968cc and some parts collecting later.... I can actually drive it!! It really scoots now too!!

And finally the Savannah beige. The next big challenge is to let the paint harden before putting the fenders back on.

This week's portion of the project will involve scuffing down the inner front fenders and window channels, self-etching prime everything, chip guard the inner fenders, then apply a coat of Savannah beige to those areas. Hey, I may not be restoring the car, but changing the color is more trouble than it's worth.

So basically I can spend a bunch of time restoring the car, bring it to a couple car shows (I detest car shows) and sell at at loss, or I can have fun with it. Either way I'm losing my shirt, and the resale value will be about the same.

I was actually on the fence about the street/strip thing until I read a story about a low mileage survivor '70 Squareback in a recent issue of AutoWeek. An all original car with 18k on the clock, the current market value is about $5500.

Restoration is out, street/strip car is in. The motor is being built now, so I'm starting on the bodywork. I'm going front to back, so that by the time I'm done jambing and prepping everything (the actual paint job is on hold until the car runs again) I can install the 1914 and crashbox 4-speed I'm putting together.

Back to work finally...
jim altemus
With a motor being built, I figured it was time to get back to work on the car itself. Today's task was the front brakes. New pads, rotors and wheel bearings work well with the previously replaced calipers.
