When it was in the car (I've gone closer back to stock -- so no tach. now), I mounted a tachometer up and to the left of the speedo... It was visible through the steering wheel and was never in the way. I still have it, so could always re-install it in the future. Sorry about the poor image. It was the only one I found that shows the tach. at its installed location.

To install a tach and some switches on my '69 Beetle, I used a large Radio Shack "project box" mounted under the dash using two small "L" brackets. You just have to make sure it is far enough forward so that your hand doesn't hit it when shifting into 1 or 3! The back of the box (facing the front of the car) is open. The tach is from a Porsche 912 and is the same diameter as the stock Beetle speedo. I've also installed some "footwell" lights on the side of the box that go on with the interior light. The switches are for the footwell lights on/off, an electric windshield washer, rear-facing hi-po "reverse light", and rear horn. Sorry, carpet and mats installed later. I took the factory padding off the dash and painted it with Rust-O-Leum "hammer finish" spray paint. Yeah, I could've painted the box too...

Cameron surprised me at lunch one day with this great present. It's OG except for the paint and carpet. The heat works so well we have to close the floor vents to keep our feet from burning up. What a sweet little car this is, it's been my daily driver ever since it came home.

Finally! I threw some paint on my 72 pan. It looks awesome,

To all whom remember this car and thread.. this recent photo shows the addition of the stainless steel molding. Really great looking up close. The headlights are just sitting in the fenders and are the original ones, fresh new ones will be in soon. I want to go with different blinkers, these were $15.00 at show. Complete new wiring harness is going in soon. (almost installed one piece window kits as I have two sets from yesteryear still in box! tempting) Fuchs need polishing plus about 100 other things. Slow but steady progress and will post more if interested. Season Greetings all.

I know it's probably something the audio pros will laugh at, but it holds a pair of 6x9s quite nicely. Can't wait to get it in. $10 poorer for it, and I'm pretty satisfied.
