I attempted to remove the fuel from my almost full gas tank with a length of 1/4" polyurethane hose (attempting to siphon) but the natural coiling of the tube prevented me from getting most all of it out since I was not able to submerge the end very well. I opted to cut the gas line close to the outlet and quickly stuff the tubes inside one another and let gravity do its thing. I'm very glad the fit was tight and the spillage was minimal. There was at least 2.5 gallons left at the time I cut the line. Once the tank was removed I could see how bad the inside of the tank has gotten, and all the crud that had collected on the front beam and surrounding parts. I knew I was in for some long overdue cleaning.

trying to figure out this plastic piece on this door hinge. Not sure if it is for a 72-74 Ghia but it definitely is stamped Karmann with the proper indication of a NOS piece

I am still deciding which set of wheels I'll be going with... painted (two-tone) stock, Keystone (15x5.5) slotted mags, or staggered (14x8 rear 13x5.5 front) Centerline. I've been working on removing the patina from the mags and centerlines with a jar of Mother's polish. I think I will put 3 bar spinner knock offs on the rear and bullet centercaps on the fronts if I go with the Centerline wheels.
