I believe that there is a top connector that is missing that which is causing a grreat loss of heat in the cab.

Detailed engine installed, took care the minor rust around the gasket lip, POR-15/Tiecoated everything. Painted using rattle can (L63H sourced from VW).

Added a nice light to the ceiling for night time engine debugging!

VDO Fuel Pressure Gage, installed on left bank fuel rail, nice peice of engine bling! Also provides instant clarification of fuel supply/pressure to loop.

BTW - Powdercoated tin, intakes and fuel rails, look's nice!

Here is the plastic piece installed correctly on the carb, allowing the choke to go through its entire travel range. With the piece installed correctly, the choke is able to open fully.

Here is the plastic piece installed correctly on the carb, allowing the choke to go through its entire travel range. Notice the locating hole in the plastic, and how it fits on a post that is cast into the carb. Also notice the spot where the post left an indent when the plastic piece was installed incorrectly.

Aside from there not being a power wire attached to the choke element, the choke would not open all the way by hand.
The plastic choke pin travel limiting piece had been installed incorrectly, only allowing the choke arm to move a small amount. Here you can see the proper locating hole in the plastic, and also the mark where the element had pressed the wrong part of the plastic into the locating post.

I took the choke element off and saw this. The plastic choke pin travel limiting piece had been installed incorrectly, only allowing the choke arm to move a small amount. This is as far as the choke could possibly open with the plastic piece installed incorrectly.

On a '78 Westy, there is exactly 2 3/4" clearance between the top of the tank and the bottom of the hatch. Don't let the angle of the pic fool you - its 2 3/4"!!

Here's what I found when it was removed from the door and the plastic cover taken off. Seriously gummed up, hardened grease, a lot of caked on dirt. A thorough cleaning is necessary.

Mount for rear seatbelts??? Pictured is one set of two mounts, there is another double set of mounts, both sets are one third of the seat width from the seat ends. On the ends of the seat are single mounts.
