Grünhilde - Step seven, steering column issues, electrics and wiring Posted: Wed Jan 01, 2014 3:57 am     Views: 158      Rating: Not rated

So far my restoration has shown up more poor maintenance than you'd wish on your worst enemy,
on the steering column alone:
(1) indicator broken (NOS coming)
(2) ignition switch lubricated with oil/WD40? (clean and lube with graphite)
(3) steering wheel horn ring worn through (new one fitted)
(4) incorrect screws used - PK's in machine thread (ordered new thru VW Germany)
(5) horn button cracked by incorrect removal (secondhand found on eBay)
(6) steering column mount too far back to contact horn ring (adjust).

Next is numerous electrical gremlins - Woo Hoo!
