Flux-core sheet metal welding : 22 gauge butt seam Posted: Thu Apr 16, 2015 7:13 pm     Views: 1094      Rating: Not rated

If flux core welding on 19 gauge and thinner, you have to just tack weld and or do a series of tack welds to make a stitch. Does not mater if you are butt welding or fillet (overlap) welding.

Green Area: Zero gap series of tack welds.

Yellow Area: Gap welded 21 gauge. First deposit a little metal to build it up and then do your tack weld. Keep wire directly in between both pieces.

Red Area: Done the same way as with mig and a huge gap where you start your weld on the last weld. Flux has to be brushed off every time.
