The 1955 only euro taillights have a bigger bulb holder area with fiber board in addition to the Hella and VW logo bezels. As well as slightly bigger mounting bracket fingers. 1956-1958 euro taillights have no Hella or VW on the bezels and a smaller bulb holder as seen in this picture.
