Stripping the Body Posted: Mon Mar 07, 2016 6:00 pm     Views: 260      Rating: Not rated

I hoped there would be some trout blue under the light blue but it's turned into a bare metal strip. It's a pretty straight body with many original parts but I don't have the original engine. I want to avoid mutilating the body, Snorkelstang atrocities, low quality repairs, and keep the 40hp running gear for drivability.

I stripped most of the exterior with methylene chloride. To cut down on the mess, place an empty box at the base of the rockers. Work methodically and scrape down into the box instead of splattering stuff all over the place.

Yep, it takes more time but what's spent working methodically is less than what you'll spend cleaning that crap off everything in the house! lol paint remover, stripper 1957 lowlight Ghia.
