The original 1967 Thunderbug show car by Don Haskin to show off his company Intac Inc.'s flared fenders and hood scoops sold at the original "Bug House" in Studio City,CA. Copycats include Bill Mitchell's 1970 VW Gasser which took the Thunderbug name and the front hood scoops of the original as his signature look, Mattel/Monogram Model's "Thunder Bug"by Tom Daniel had the original's rear hood scoops/flared fenders going into a spoiler rear/single stinger exhaust and square 'Nerf Bars", Clay Diekmann and Tony Vierra of Bugformance 1968 dune buggy called Thunder Bug and AutoHaus using the original's front hood scoop design in their logo. The front hood Scoops were originally designed with a racing flip-top cap to eliminate the need to open the early bugs hood to put in gas. |
