'71 Camper - External OIl Cooler Posted: Wed May 30, 2018 9:14 pm     Views: 67      Rating: Not rated

Stainless steel oil cooler hardlines are run from the Morcal sandwich plate adapter to the oil cooler. Routing through the frame does take some effort. The oil cooler will be a small mesa cooler with no fan. The cooler will be placed in the air stream under the bus. The cooler will only serve as an auxillary for the stock cooler. Both the Hoover oiling and connecting rod mods have been done to the engine as well as the 4.57 ring gear in the transmission, so warmer oil temperatures compared to a stock application are possible. The intent is to route oil to the cooler once the thermostat on the sandwich plate adapter reaches 180 degrees. At this time the plan is to monitor oIl temperature and pressure via a Speeduino module - which then can be relayed to a smartphone or laptop.
