Since there have been a few engine modifications that may introduce more heat to the oiling system, an auxiliary oil cooler has been added to the build. A custom oil cooler bracket was fabricated in order to place the cooler in the desired location and to provide the most compact and low profile installation possible. A MOCAL sandwich plate adapter was installed with the oil filter and will control oil flow to the auxiliary cooler when oil temps reach approximately 180° F. The oil lines to the cooler are 1/2" 316 stainless steel tube with insulation in areas that are in contact with the body paint. The bracket was fabricated with 6061 aluminum stock and hard anodized black.
A fan was not deemed necessary since the cooling fins were installed parallel to the air stream and would only really be used during times of severe loading or idling in traffic. As the primary stock cooler is in place with all tins accounted for, and the motor being detailed and blueprinted, the auxiliary oil cooler will likely see minimal use. |
