Small driving tour in central Connecticut Posted: Mon Jul 20, 2020 5:57 am     Views: 51      Rating: Not rated

Yesterday I joined several VW friends from CT for an approx. 60 mile drive on mostly local roads. I drove my 1964 Karmann Ghia Cabrio on the historic Merritt/Wilbur Cross Parkway, going through the Heroes Tunnel in New Haven. We met up in South Glastonbury, meandered around Marlborough and ended up in East Haddam at the Connecticut River. Bill S and Gloria drove their well done Speedster replica, Allyn D in remarkable '54 Karmann Cabrio, Greg M in '64 Beetle "Herbie". Finally, Diane M (moogie32) joined us not in her usual '63 Ghia Cabrio, but in her recently acquired fantastic '65 Porsche 356 SC. I kept the Ghia's top up the entire day to avoid the strong sun (was mid 90's F). Everyone's car ran well, and it was the first time we all got together this year. Round trip distance for me was approx. 300 miles.
