I entered my bug in the 2020 Coastal Range Rally - Rally From Home, South. It was organized by Driving While Awesome, out of Santa Cruz, California.
This is a rally with a wide range of cars, some supercars but mostly all "drivers cars". Plenty of 80s/90s era cool cars, and some vintage stuff. As usual, the Subaru powered 58 ragtop didn't quite fit in. haha but it did make a lot of people smile to see it, and then raise an eyebrow to drive with (behind) it.
This rally was 500 miles of driving on some of California's most beautiful and remote roads. It was over 100 degrees all day long, bumpy, and kind of treacherous at times. There were a few times that the water temperature (turbo Subaru swap) got up there, particularly going up steep grades after a sustained 90+mph. But the Bug didn't skip a beat.
I was really proud of it! |
