'72 Beetle "Beverly Hills Cop" (1984) Posted: Fri Nov 27, 2020 8:45 am     Views: 22      Rating: Not rated

In the tractor-trailer chase scene at the beginning of the movie, it rams and smashes into many cars parked along the narrow streets of Detroit, Michigan. The white Beetle appears to be a 1972, with fire damage at the air vents under the rear window. Flared fenders and wide rear wheels. If you watch the footage carefully, it does not appear as though the truck actually contacts the Beetle as it first rushes past. There is a thick silver pole visible under the Beetle which could've been used to push the car into the truck's rear wheels. You can also see the small 1970-only rectangular rear bumper reflectors. One of the police cruisers chasing the truck slams broadside into the Beetle. The filming streets listed in IMDB are near Detroit's central business district.
