Splittie and Bay window Type 2s in movies Posted: Thu Dec 02, 2021 5:14 am     Views: 13      Rating: Not rated

"Double Trouble" (1984), filmed in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Stars Bud Spencer and Terence Hill.
1, 2. Two, and moments later one Brazilian-built Bay airline bus are seen in left background as the stars come out of the airport terminal. The Brazilian buses could be considered the "Zwitter" equivalents of split window Beetles, since they have the Bay window front body design but the Splittie side and rear window layouts.
3-5. They are driven off in a white Rolls Royce, and pass a light blue full Splittie Kombi (?) on the road.
6. The Rolls turns into a side street going the wrong way. There are at least 5 Bays parked on the left and down the street.
7. Ivory Bay parked in background of the driving Police car.

"Crime Busters" (1977), another Spencer/Hill movie. Filmed in the Miami, Florida area.
8. Splittie panel van camper conversion parked in background.

"Odds and Evens" (1978), another Spencer/Hill movie also filmed in the Miami area.
9. Blue/white Splittie panel van camper conversion parked.

"Magnum Force" (1973), filmed in San Francisco, CA. Stars police detective Harry Callahan and Lt. Briggs (Clint Eastwood, Hal Holbrook).
10. Briggs is about to force Callahan to drive to the harbor area at gunpoint. They pass a parked Splittie.

11. TV show "Cannon" season 4, episode 14 "The Conspirators" 1975. A blue/white Splittie is parked behind a small town gas station/repair shop.
