One of the recurring TV movies from the NBC Mystery Movies series in the 1970s was McMillan and Wife, filmed in San Francisco, California. In this episode (season 2, ep. 5) Police chief Stewart McMillan (Rock Hudson) jumps into a police cruiser at a stake-out and they pursue a beige/gold Ford mid-size sedan (Fairlane?) through the steep streets of the city. Many VWs are in background.
