A 1987 vintage sticker from Czechoslovakia behind the "Iron Curtain".
I cannot recall where in Czechoslovakia I acquired it, but it might have been in Humpolec, where we briefly visited a Czech family with whom my parents became acquainted during an earlier package holiday in the early 1970s. I still exchange Christmas greetings with that family.

The Czech family in question, were local relatives of a Hollywood film-studio (Metro-Goldwyn-Meyer I suspect!?!) executive, originally from Czechoslovakia, who had heard my parents speaking English in the hotel where they were staying.
According to an automated on-line translation website:
STATNI in Czech means STATE in English
SPORITELNA in Czech means SAVINGS BANK in English
CHRANIM in Czech means PROTECTING in English
PRIRODU in Czech means NATURE in English
Hence, I suspect that this is a sticker from the local branch of the CESCA State Savings Bank promoting nature conservancy. |
