1967 VW Splitbus - Battery clamp useful adapter Posted: Mon Nov 10, 2025 3:22 am     Views: 11      Rating: Not rated

During a check-up for roadworthiness of our 1967 VW Bus (imported from US, now in Europe) - the mechanic criticized that our battery was moving and we had to fix it down.

We already had the battery clamp (as the 67 bus doesn't have any battery strap or belt - that was only until 66 models). But the problem was, that the clamp was to high and therefore there was no contact between the clamp and the bottom bar of the battery - which is why it moved during driving.

Here is an easy solution and fix that might be useful to some people having a similar problem:
There is a normed terminal strip (german: Batterieklemmleiste) available that improves the height of the batterie bottom bar from 10 to 19 mm and therefore the 67 battery clamp has contact and fixes the battery down.
