Here is how you can set up the end play out of the case. Just slide your bearing on crank, attach flywheel and measure gap between flywheel and bearing. Much more accurite IMHO then setting it up in the case. You can recheck it after the motor is built and then you will be sure that the crank is not hitting anything, and that the number one bearing is not moving.
In the picture, the gap is shown much larger, typically it will be around 0.30-40.
MAKE sure number one bearing is all the way against the crank. Some times the raduis on the crank will hold the bearing off. This will give you a false reading and also could cause the motor to sieze. The bearing raduis needs to be modified to match the cranks. |
