Converted to burn wood. The wood produced a gas which powered the engine.
1. During WWII approx 1 million vehicles were operated on wood gas including all farm equipment.
2. Over 2000 wood gas stations were set up across Germany selling wood pre-cut to the proper size for burning (the size of matchsticks).
3. Over 500,000 generator sets were produced in 1945 alone!
4. The majority of vehicles in Germany, Russia and Sweden all operated on wood gas.
5. Imbert (the inventor) is awarded the Distinguished Service Cross for his contribution to the war effort. |
