You will need to undo the hose on #1 and then unscrew the nipple on the filler neck. Make sure that you save the fiber washer just incase you need to get a new one. Next undo the 2 clamps on the larger filler hose. Make sure the gas door is open. Now grab the metal filler neck and pull towards the outside of the car and twist at the same time. If the neck is frozen in place you may have to cut the hose away. If you need to do this MAKE SURE you have sourced replacement hose first.
There are no real seals on the gas tank except for the one around the fuel sender top. There are a ton of hoses however. There is the filler neck hose. The medium one from the filler neck to the top of the tank. The tiny one that goes from the nipple below the filler neck hose and Ts into the medium one that is attached to the neck and the top of the tank, this tiny hose Ts off into the plastic vapor catch mounted on the outside of the wiper/ fan assembly cover. Then on the Drivers side there 2 tiny hoses that go directly onto the plastic vapor catch. Finally there is a tiny hose that comes off the vapor catch and runs under the car to the charcoal canister under th passenger side rear fender.
