hydbrid system for vw bus designed by vw Posted: Sun Apr 13, 2008 7:43 am     Views: 716      Rating: Not rated

in the 70s vw derived at a hybrid system for a vw bus, consisting of a combination of electric motor connected directly to the automatic gearbox, allowing the bus to go from 0 to 50km/hr while the combustion motor powered the batteries at idle speed. Latter at higher speeds the combustion motor was used as a main drive all the while charging the batteries for the low speeds.
