Westy tee molding gap, closed Posted: Sun Apr 27, 2008 7:13 pm     Views: 110      Rating: Not rated

It is common for the Westy tee molding to gain a gap due to age and cold. Our 1989 Vanagon Westy was sheltered but chilled this winter, and the cabinet tee molding showed a little shrinkage.

To remedy this: take one hair dryer + your hands + a little patience = nice, tight tee molding.

Warm the tee molding gently with the hair dryer, you want the plastic pliable, not smoking or melting. Firmly and confidently press it back into place. Once it is there, hold it for a moment. You're a human clamp! Doesn't take long to close the gap. When the tee molding is cool and back in place, just close the cabinet door. Rinse, repeat, YMMV.
