For the rear, the 53 should be centered/placed about 1 inch from the top and right side of the decklid, and 1 inch from the license plate light. If using a larger license plate light, remove it first, apply decal, then replace the light.
Tilt: Despite often seeing the 53s at wild angles on many replicas, this is generally inconsistent with the movie cars. The upright part of the 5 should be roughly parallel with the spine in the decklid for "The Love Bug" look, or, the top part of the 5 parallel to the top of the decklid for later movies. Angles more extreme are incorrect.
Stripes should just skirt the license plate light, about 2.5 inches off center. Total width of stripes is about 6 inches.
