Quite a few Herbies out there. Some great ones, some not so great. Thinking of doing up a Herbie the Love Bug? Here's some general information to help you get it right.
The basics: Herbie is officially a 1963 model with a sunroof. Color is VW 'L87' Pearlweiss. Generally, 1958-1966 Beetles will fit the bill very nicely. Sunroof color is gray. Many folks without a sunroof attach a sunroof cover to complete the look.
Interiors were completely flocked medium gray for the first four movies. Many owners opt for stock gray/gray white combinations. With or without headliner.
Wheels range from stock, to 15 x 6 and 14 x 6.
Two very easy details you can do: Use the 1958-1963 sized smaller license plate light. Same for the front turn signals with clear lenses. Clear lenses are available for the slightly larger 1964-1966 style turn signals, too.
