making a non VW (but ATE) booster work on my 71 bus Posted: Mon Nov 16, 2009 8:35 pm     Views: 152      Rating: Not rated

Showing what I had to change on an otherwise idnetical brake booster in order to work on my 71 bus. I had to make the part (circled in blue) attatch to the shaft circled in pink on the replacement booster. This involved sawing the shaft at the precise length, and then cutting the "pedal shaft attachment" on the old booster (of course, the bellows and inlet were off). Then I drilled out the inside of the "pedal shalft attachement", threaded both that and the shaft, and drilled in a new hole and put in a tension pin to keep it from unscrewing.
