The cut piece now mated with the tach. This tach was kind of funny since it had an adjustable redline, and it was in a dial-able thing that you moved like a clock. i didn't wan't to use that, and now I had a gaping hole to cover. We'll use the chrome edged piece to do that. Also, I tested the light and discovered that the face of the tach needs to be further back than the rear edge of the blank plate we just cut, so I needed to make some sort of space to fit it. I don't have a photo of the spacer, but it ended up being the chrome ring from a type3 clock...
