Super Multi plug wiring warning
16CVs
Here are the wires going into the dash warning fixture. When plugged in propery the oil pressure light does not go off and the alt light stays dim.
When unplugged all functions properly. I do not have a full diagram of this plug. The online version does not break out his plug. I will now chase the wires by the numbers on the plug. Me thinks that a wire is out of place causing this issue.
Any help or direction is appreciated.

Stacy

Old Non scripted VW Box
16CVs
I have a Non scripted VW box with what looks like a wheel cylinder kit in it. The number on the box is 11 415 211. Usually it would have 3 3 numbers at the beginning.
I did a Google search and found nothing. Is this a real early part or am I missing something?
Any help appreciated.

400 K Tristar Only 100 K more so I can retire
16CVs
My Trusty and well loved 1989 Swedish Tristar Syncro hit the 400.000 mile mark while rolling down Highway 101 in Santa Clara.
I bought this truck with 197.000 13 years ago. The body is holding up well. After normal repairs it's going strong.
This is my idea of being GREEN, not producing and scrapping something just to buy something else.

Trying out my new to me NORCO lift. It's a bit un nerving with iy up that high but it seems to be stable enough.
The rack is rated at 6K Lbs, it seems to me that it is more for a Passenger car and not this huge geavy box.
I've been under it and worked on it and it seems OK, I just have to get used to it.

Nasty Syncro Ground strap
16CVs
This may be why may starting has been iffy lately, I thought it was a bad Ignition switch which I tried and that wasn't it. I jumped my starter relay and it still would not start. I've been lucky enough to be on just enough hill and bump start it until the other day when I had to get a push.
I was getting ready to possibly put a starter in which is bitch in Syncro. So on the off chance I ordered a new Ground strap from BUSLAB in Berkeley about 3 months ago and finally changed it.
One side of it was nicely crimped and soldered and the other side had a diffrerent connector on it and looks like it was squezzed in a vice. After putting the new in, I decided to cut it open and it was ugly as the wire under the crimp looked like the exposed wires. The braids were broken and corroded.
Hopefully this is the answer.

Terrawagen Scuff plates
16CVs
Received my Pre Production Scuff plates for my Tristar doors. These fit like a glove and even had pre applied adhesive strips on the back.
I like the look and these will get a real world test as my truck is driven almost everyday and rarely babied.
I have a Gray set of these on my Multivan which I really like, but they are just flat pieces of ABS and do not have the rolled edge. These were made by a different company but just don't have that final touch to them as the Terrawagen units do.

Vanagon Glass run Channel length difference too long
16CVs
I do not understand this, why they make this channel longer than it needs to be? There is no Variance as all Vanagon doors are the same. I woulkd think in these days of saving money in productio, that they could save a ton by cutting them to an exact length.
It is obvious that they are all comingg from the same factory as I have had them from different vendors and thay are all the same lenghth too long.

Fuel system rebuild including tank replacement and all fuel lines and Firewall connector.
Van had almost all original fuel lines on it, as far as I can tell by the style of the clamps.
I used all ABA size specific clamps. I will go back after a 1000 miles or so and Re set all the clamps.
Thankfully this van was parked in doors for 9 years or there'd be nothing left of it.
