"Attack on Fear" TV movie Ghia
Stock Steve
A Facebook friend posted a small clip from a 1984 made-for-TV movie "Attack On Fear," that showed actor Paul Michael Glaser (of Starsky & Hutch fame) driving a Karmann Ghia of unknown year. I do not know how or where they came across the film clip, but here's a screen shot that I made.

Thanks Air George!
Stock Steve
I had been running a "Low Back Bug Front Seats Wanted" ad on TheSamba for a bit, looking for some '66-'67 style to fix up and use in my '70 Bug. Air George responded to my ad and sent some pictures of some very decent used '66 seats that he had. A deal on price was struck, and then I arranged to drive down to pay him and pick up the seats--which I just accomplished today (Saturday, February 13th, 2021). Air George is a super-nice, and super-helpful guy, and I very much appreciated working with him on this seat deal! He graciously posed for a photo with the seats loaded up in the back of my dirty Subie for the ride back up to Connecticut. It was an all-around fun & satisfying adventure to The Garden State, and a real pleasure meeting & doing some business with Air George!

Legacy tribute "CREEKY" plate in honor of my former '69 Bug
Stock Steve
I sold my trusty "Creeky" '69 Bug last year, on which I used to run a Connecticut "Early American" vanity plate, "CREEKY." I don't have an antique car available now to put it on (and it wouldn't seem right actually to put that actual plate onto another car). Did realize, however, that I could request a vanity "regular" Connecticut passenger plate (on "Save The Sound" base, which I think is really attractive) with the same inscription, and did so just recently. So, now, "CREEKY" lives on, as a tribute, on my '05 Outback.

New Year's Day 2021 Meet-Up for CVAers & friends, Madison, CT
Stock Steve
Clear, dry roads, and not-uncomfortable temperatures allowed an & informal little get-together, Friday, January 1, 2021, at a Dunkin Donuts in Madison, CT, not far from Hammonasset State Park. Great opportunity to exercise the oldies. Thanks Bill A. and Jeff M. from CVA (Connecticut Volkswagen Association) for setting it up and getting the word out via Facebook. I was glad to make it there with my '70 Bug. Here are a couple of panorama pictures I attempted with my I-Phone.

Mild & clear late January pleasure drive to Guilford, CT
Stock Steve
Sunday afternoon, January 23, 2021. A beautiful day with clear and salt-free roads (thanks to some preceding non-freezing days with some rain, that washed the salt off, and staved off the salt trucks from adding more, at least for a bit) to drive my '70 Bug up to my brother-in-law's place, out in the woods of Guilford, CT.

The date was this past Saturday, November 14th, 2020--a nice clear & mild day in Connecticut. Got a couple of old VWs (my '70 Convertible, with our puppy riding along with me, and Moogie32's '63 Ghia), plus a first-gen Miata (belonging to Moogie32's sister), out to Branford Town Hall, in Branford, CT, to hand in our donation to The Christmas Caddy (https://www.facebook.com/christmascaddy), to help brighten kids' and families' Christmas once again this year.

Trying out CIP-1's China-repro 4-bolt 5.5" smoothie wheels
Stock Steve
You can purchase them in this right red finish, which is what I did (I think white and silver are also choices). Tires are 195/60R15 Goodich's. I had some chrome center bullets on my shelf, and also some chromed plastic lug bolt head covers. Not quite visible are some chrome bullet valve caps also.

WW repro clip kits purchased July 2020
Stock Steve
I had bought a set of those inexpensive repro 5.5" wide 5-bolt smoothie wheels from CIP-1 last year, but have NOT had good luck with the hub cap clips they came with... Old-style Volkswagen wheel hub cap clips kits (http://www.wolfsburgwest.com/cart/DetailsList.cfm…) came in from WW yesterday. They look decent and pretty much "factory style." I ordered 5 kits, and just opened up one of them here to look at. One of the clips is slightly "squished" relative to the others (red arrows), not cool, since I'm gonna want to reshape it slightly (maybe use some propane torch heat?)... In addition to the clips being the nice "tall" style, they also have that nice little crease at the tip end (green arrows) that should make them work with hub caps as they should... So, the plan now is to wire brush the wheels locally where the clips mate up, buck the rivets, and then bring the fully-clipped wheels over to my local powdercoater for stripping & re-coating.

Trying out the old Creeky Bug's knobbies on my '70...
Stock Steve
Sold the Creeky Bug, but kept the set of knobbies that I put together for it a short time ago. These are the China-repro "Pre-A" wheels, 16"x3.25", and the tires are some super-knobby "Deka" brand tires that Coker sells, that require tubes. I forget the size designation right now--will try to come back and note it. And four-to-five adapters too, of course, No rubbing, but I still think I may put some KYB gas-charged shocks on the back, just to correct that tiny bit of rear end sag. Anyway, fun stuff!

Creeky at new owner's home, 10/20/2019
Stock Steve
I delivered the car to the new owner's home, a few towns away in Connecticut, on Sunday morning, October 20th, 2019. It had become clear that it was time to pass the car along to another enthusiast, who may have some vision for it and energy to pursue that vision. End of the story for now, but we are friends with the new owner, and will be eager to see what develops in the future. It was a fun nine or so years! Onward and upward!

Great pleasure meeting Richie from RichiesGarage at Hershey!
Stock Steve
I've had very satisfying Samba transactions with Richie from Riche's Garage in New Jersey over the years, but this was my first time meeting him in person! A real pleasure! Richie is a very nice guy and very knowledgeable. This photo was taken last week at the big AACA meet at Hershey, PA (October 9-12, 2019), at Richie's flea market space. That's Samba member "moogie32" in the nice posed photo with Richie. Thanks again for everything, Richie, and looking forward to doing more business with you again in the future!

Nitty-gritty Creeky Buggin' once again, early July 2019...
Stock Steve
The '03 LeSabre that my daughter drives had to go into the shop unexpectedly--thankfully Sarah knows how to drive manual, so she was able to jump into my Subaru, to get to all her jobs. That means that Creeky Bug once again becomes *my* go-to! I was out and about to New Haven and back with it yesterday (7/5/2019), and then a gas-up stop at the Branford (CT) Leetes Island Road Mobil station by the highway. Out and about getting some stuff done today as well. Running good! Happy Saturday...

Fiitted "Herbie" wheels & tires to Doug the '60 Bug this past weekend
Stock Steve
I bought some of those China-repro 15x5.5 smoothies from one of the "hot" California parts houses, that came finished in a nice gloss white, and with hub cap clips already in place. I had my local garage mount & balance the set of 195/60R15 BFGs that I had been running on my other car, and finally put them all on Doug the '60 Bug this past Saturday, 6/22/2019. The clips were NOT happy accepting hub caps, and even though I spent some time tweaking all of the clips, I still lost a hub cap driving to a cruise night on Sunday 6/23 in Derby, CT (where I had a nice photo-op with a '66 Bus from New Haven). I kinda like the "Herbie" look that the fat wheels & RWL tires give the car.

Rainy season returns to Southern Connecticut...
Stock Steve
Rainy season returns to Southern Connecticut... Coincidentally with my need to commute in the Creeky Bug this week with my Subaru being in the shop. Couple pictures from yesterday evening's (Monday, June 10th) drive home (I-95 northbound approaching the Q-Bridge in New Have, and a Staples stop in Branford), and this morning's (Tuesday, June 11th) drive in to work gas-up stop in West Haven, CT (southbound I-95 service plaza)... Bug's running good! Rain-X is working great! Ha ha!

Ha ha!

Creeky Bug in New Haven, near old Armstrong Rubber building, 6/9/2019
Stock Steve
Drove in to New Haven to mail some stuff at the main post office that’s located right near the big New Haven (CT) IKEA store (IKEA’s campus incorporates the historic old Armstrong Rubber building, that is considered an architectural treasure of New Haven—although it does not appear that IKEA is actually doing anything with it—other than hanging big “sale” banners on it that are visible from the highway--even though they’ve had to have been there now at least 10 or 15 years).

Doug the '60 Bug out for dinner in North Branford, CT, Wednesday, June 5th, 2019
Stock Steve
Drove Doug the '60 Bug over to "Nataz" restaurant in North Branford, CT yesterday evening--great food and BYOB--works for me! Rather dim ride back home later in the evening, though, with those *6V* headlights, ha ha!

Creeky Bug work commuting, Wednesday, June 5th, 2019...
Stock Steve
Still haven't done a ton of shakedown driving with this current wheels & tires setup, but brought a bunch of sockets and a breaker bar with me just in case. Of course the bolts holding the adapters to the car, and the bolts holding the wheels to the adapters are different size, LOL!... Photo is at the Branford, CT I-95 southbound side service plaza, gas-up stop on the way to work this morning... Happy Wednesday...

Cheryl and John from Branford at the North Haven Cruise, 5/27/2019
Stock Steve
Posted a picture of me and John from my town (Branford) at the North Haven, CT cruise night on Monday evening, May 27th, 2019 (Memorial Day), that was taken by John's wife Cheryl, and realized I needed to post a picture of Cheryl & John's cars too--especially since Cheryl's is a VW! The blue '66 is Cheryl's pride 'n joy, and the red hot rod '74 Nova is John's! Two really nice folks! A picture of them with the Creeky Bug is also added here for good measure!

Creeky hitting the North Haven, CT Memorial Day cruise night, 5/27/2019
Stock Steve
Beautiful evening to get out to North Haven, CT, on the early evening of Memorial Day, May 25th, 2019. A great group of local car enthusiasts, "The DooWop Cruisers" car club of North Haven runs these cruise nights on Monday nights in the summer, at the North Haven shopping plaza on Washington Avenue in town. I had a chance on Memorial Day to get over there with the Bug and had a great time. The guy with the red shirt posing with me is a fellow old car nut, John from Branford, and John's wife Cheryl took the picture (thanks again Cheryl!). Cheryl is also a Bug driver, and owns a beautiful blue '66 Bug--I will follow up with another picture...

First fitment of China-repro 16" Pre-A wheels & knobbies - outdoor photos
Stock Steve
The first attempted fitment of the red China-repro 16" Pre-A wheels and knobbies was Friday, May 10th, 2019; tried them on the Creeky '69 Bug first, since theywent well with his gnarly character. Used 4-to-5 bolt adapters at all four corners, and 3/8" spacers at the front, to clear the disk brake calipers (the car has Karmann Ghia disk brakes in front fitted). These pictures are from that first-bolt-on, with the car outdoors in the driveway.
