Vee Dub Nut's 74 Bay Transporter
Vee Dub Nut
Refreshed my "new" used re-geared 091. Replaced the input shaft, new throwout bearing and guide, new HD cross shaft and bushing kit, input and selector shaft seals, and a paint job. This trans has a 4.57 r/p, and a 1.17 3rd and .70 4th.

Final adjustments to the scoop done. Some trimming to clean things up, painted the end plates black, and refitted. The color change makes the scoop disappear to the casual glance. You have to be looking for it to see it.

New heat shield to separate the engine and exhaust. Didn't want the heat from the exhaust to cook the timing covers. Shield is just a piece of stainless sheet metal bent up in my HF brake, which was reclaimed from an old door kick plate.

Proto-typing a new throttle pedal linkage to increase cable pull. Stock linkage was only getting me ~45% opening per the TPS signal. New linkage is ~95% opening now. I'll make a nicer final version, and add rod ends to connect the pedal to the lever plate.

Out testing the final revised system (lowered radiator, fill panels, and front scoop). Temps are spot on. 181-184F at speed WITHOUT fans running. The scoop is somewhat visible, but not terrible.

Side fill panels made up to close up the gap between the radiator and floor. This will force air to have to go through the rad instead of passing around/over it.

Leveled the radiator back out, but flipped the saddles from above the frame to below the frame, and added 1" spacers. Much improved spacing between the radiator and floor cross members.

Doing development work on the cooling system of the Subaru swapped 74. My original rad location showed pretty poor air flow being mounted so tight up in the frame (not terribly surprised). This was a quick and dirty test to see if air flow would effect observed coolant temps, and it did. Time to revise the radiator mount.

My 20 year old trusty Ford on a VW rescue mission again. Think I've hauled 4 or 5 Buses with this truck already. Nothing fancy, but it gets the job done!

77 Sage Westy Rescue
Vee Dub Nut
77 sage green westy I rescued fro the mountains of NC. Had a TDI swap and a re-geared 091. The engine swap was pretty poor. I pulled it out, kept the good parts, and scrapped the rest. The trans will end up in my 74 Subaru swapped transporter. The rest of the Bus is up in the air currently. Pretty solid for an east coast Bus, but does need rust and metal repair in the rear.
