tire machine adapter
cdennisg
I use this as an adapter for my manual tire machine to mount/dismount wide five wheels. Also works with modern tire balancers when the shop doesn't have the large cone to fit wide 5 wheels.
This is just an old 5 lug beetle brake drum with the braking hoop surface cut off, and the center removed. All of this was done on an old Aamco brake lathe by a local mechanic shop. Cost me ten bucks as I recall.

a very crusty middle seat find
cdennisg
Found this half buried in the forest duff while helping a friend clear some property. Bottom half is OK for a donor. Some before and after pics of cleanup.

2020 firewood haul
cdennisg
Got some big piles of firewood as a result of a recent windstorm. Gotta do something while self-isolating and social distancing.

Topside oil filter
cdennisg
Photos of what I recall as a "topside" oil filter system. As you can see, it has the name "The Factory" cast into it, so that may be an AKA.
I remember them being sold as an alternative to an oil pump style filter, that would work on early bay buses with the rear mustache bar engine mount system.

68 single cab
cdennisg
finally, I installed my freshly machined nose cone with new bushing and seal, and thrust plate, back onto the trans. I will soon install all new shift bushings in the truck, and reassemble.

Type 1 powered air compressor
cdennisg
A friend of mine uses this VW air compressor for his sandblasting setup at his fab shop. He asked if I could give it a tune up, oil change and re-seal. Oil cooler and seals are messed up. Fresh stuff going in tomorrow.
This thing uses the 3-4 cylinder bank to compress the air, and the 1-2 bank to run. Had to turn over the engine to watch the valves move to set clearances as the plug wires run from what would normally be the 3-2 spots on the distributor cap. Not sure why.
