NOS Bosch 019
hlwimmer
don't you love it when you forget you have parts like this in a box... an NOS 019 fitted with a compufire/pertronix ignition and never run... i ended up using an 010 from glenn ring instead. I found this when going through an old parts box.

new vintage style motor: back from the shop
hlwimmer
car... next step is paint and interior. i hope to have this project finished by summer -- it is my daily driver to/from sanfrancisco from oakland... its nice to have the larger motor in morning traffic.... the funny thing is that the exhaust sets off car alarms in my building. i'm waiting for someone to say something... then, i suppose, i'll install one of those mexican "sleeper" mufflers. the garage has too many ramps to use a header of any kind, unfortunately...

new vintage style motor: back from the shop

nos 019 dizzy... when i got this, it had an allison electronic ignition (also nos) that pooped out onthe first test-run. ray modified the body of the dizzy to accept a compufire ignition. the vintage allison module would've been cool, but not having points, was... the point... so this works, too.
thanks to mike for the trade... i still owe you my 010 -- i haven't forgotten.

a closer shot of the aircleaner setup. there are 2 "plates" that wrap the contour of the aircleaners with attachments to the breather itself. with these, i'm pulling bit of vacuum from the intakes while not poking holes in the aircleaners...

new vintage style motor: back from the shop
hlwimmer
finally back from volks authority. still some work to be done, but a very happy customer overall... note: dual zenith 32ndix carbs with knecht mesh cleaners, porsche 285mm genny (needs a rebuild and polish), porsche oil filler/breather and trick air cleaner attachments, nos 019 dizzy, porsche h-filter bypass oil filter, abarth (repro) exhaust... engine base is a fairly standard 1776. it's fun to drive...

motor in-progress (B)
hlwimmer
figures that i'd drive to sanjose only to take a half-dozen blurry images... attached is a frontal image of the motor showing the oil-filler a bit more clearly. in the end, it will be a fairly mild 1776 with stock heads and an engle 110 cam. the carbs will be dual zeniths from a 63 porsche (same as the oil filler, oil filter and the 285mm genny -- the OT pulley is a repro). the dizzy will be changed from my old 010 to a NOS 019 with an electronic ignition module... a neat bug-o-rama find of a friend who will soon be the owner of my older restored 010.

motor in-progress (A)
hlwimmer
my motor has been out of the car for a better part of 6 months now... it's been a work-in-progress and a fill-in job at volksauthority in san jose... the problem, of course, with fill-in jobs is that a good mechanic never really has any downtime. i initially envisioned the final motor with dual zentih carbs, the porsche breather and oil filter, OT pulley and abarth exhaust -- really a 356-style motor. ray and gary have added a few personal touches such as the downdraft tube on the porsche breather as well as some interesting breather attachments that are not yet on the car... they're doing a great job and i'm excited to get the car on the road again. i'll post more (clear) images once the engine is finished and installed.
